MUSCOVADO,

“healthy sugar” is a moist brown natural sugar derived from sugarcane through a chemical-free extraction process. It is considered a health food due to the presence of minerals and trace elements beneficial to the body
Muscovado, the unrefined sugar, was one of the most prominent export commodities of the Philippines in the 1800s. With the coming of the Americans, who preferred white sugar, the muscovado industry had seen the last of its glory days.

Fortunately, market taste and preference are changing again in favor of the dark but not too sweet, dark brown sugar.
Muscovado goes well with hot coffee and native delicacies. The demand for muscovado both in the local and foreign has been increasing at pace with the trend toward organic and healthier food sources.
