DilleraNew business opportunities in Region 12 are set to be uncovered by the Department of Trade & Industry 12 in the 1st Regional Investment Conference (R12Icon) slated on July 22 – 23, 2009 at Paseo del Sol, General Santos City. Carrying the theme “ Channeling Substantial Resources Towards Investments,” the Investment Conference shall be highlighted by a forum on investment areas, one-on-one business matching and investment exhibit.  National experts and consultants are invited to present and discuss the business opportunities in Eco-Tourism Site Development, Coconut Sugar and Honeybee Production, Barako Coffee, Sunflower Farming, Engineering and Architectural Designs, Moringa and Fresh Water Shrimp (ulang) production. In anticipation of certain issues that may confront the would-be investors, a break-out session shall be set to address problems on technology, financing and marketing. There shall be different set of experts who will expound on this during the small group discussions. The business matching arranged between potential investors and buyers aims to generate investors to produce products or services that are required by the buyer. A Market Matching agreement may be signed to this effect to ensure that there is a certain buyer for the produce of the local investors. There shall also be a showcase of the potential investment areas in Region 12. Invited to attend are Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), national and local government agencies/units non-government organizations, academe and other interested parties. Currently, Region 12’s investments is generally in the areas of agri-production, resource-based and services. Mandated as the government’s agency to promote, coordinate and facilitate generation of investments, among others, DTI-12 partners with the Department of Agriculture 12, Department of Tourism 12, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources 12 and the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Counci, Inc. of General Santos City in this activity. R12 Icon is staged as part of the Yaman Gensan celebration.
